The towns and municipalities also benefit from their excellent infrastructure. In the small town centres, you can get where you need to go on foot or by bicycle.

Additional flexibility is offered by bike and car sharing services along with various commuter portals. Hamburg, Kiel and Lübeck are easily accessible by regional train, in some places even by metro, underground and bus lines.

Depending on the municipality, the centre of Hamburg is 40 to 60 minutes away by public transport. In future, a planned cycle superhighway will lead directly from Bad Bramstedt through Kaltenkirchen, Henstedt-Ulzburg and Norderstedt to Hamburg.

The largest high moor in Schleswig-Holstein, the Himmelmoor in Quickborn, is another inviting place for a nice hike.

The idyllic rivers and lakes are an excellent setting for canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding or water skiing.
